The American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology started in 1906 as a modest panel of biological chemists organized by John Jacob Abel of the Johns Hopkins University. Since, the organization has grown into one of the most important learned scientific societies with members across the globe, expanding into students chapters, such as our very own chapter at the University of Houston.
The University of Houston's ASBMB chapter focuses on the personal development of its growing member base, propelling their careers by connecting students to resources regarding graduate school, research, and community involvement.
